New plant for Rosenbauer

Austrian fire and platform manufacturer Rosenbauer is expanding its production capacity in Austria with the acquisition of the old Wacker Neuson facility in Haidfeldstraße, Leonding, vacated when the equipment company moved to new premises in Hörsching last year.

Rosenbauer will take over the plant in May, the fact that it is located just three kilometres from its main plant also in Leonding, has all the infrastructure required and was available at short notice made it an easy decision said Rosenbauer.

The new facility includes 15,000 square metres of industrial buildings and around 5,000 square metres of office space, on a 12.8 acre/5.2 hectare plot. The facility increases Rosenbauer’s production space by 60 percent. As part of the move, the company is restructuring all of its facilities. In future all airport rescue and fire fighting vehicles will be made in the new facility which should come on stream in the third quarter of this year.

Rosenbauer will also invest a total of €15.6 million in its Austrian facilities this year and significantly add to the 1,100 people it employs in Leonding.
Chairman Dieter Siegel said: "By adding this extra production capacity, we are taking another step along the road to future growth and are better equipped to handle major orders, which call for additional manufacturing capacity.”

Rosenbauer produces a full range of fire fighting platforms mostly under the Metz brand, which it acquired in 1998. Since 2008 Metz has had an agreement with Socage to supply the base unit it uses for its platform range. Click here to see Socage supplies Metz.
