Barnhart to acquire Steel City Crane
Barnhart is acquiring Steel City Crane of Birmingham, Alabama in an asset purchase deal. No details of the transaction have been released.
Steel City has locations in Mobile, Alabama and Pascagoula, Mississippi in addition to its Birmingham headquarters. The company’s fleet includes All Terrains up to 500 tonnes, crawler cranes up to 240 tonnes and truck cranes to 125 tonnes as well as a range of modular lifting towers and Goldhofer trailer units.
Steel City Crane which was founded over 50 years ago will be merged into Barnhart's network and its fleet maintained and managed by Barnhart's branch in Mobile, Alabama.
Chief executive Alan Barnhart said: "Steel City is a great company with a strong history. This move is a very positive change for everyone involved. For years Steel City has built a good reputation by providing lifting solutions to heavy industrial customers such as process plants, refineries, and power plants - especially during outages and shutdowns. This acquisition will allow Barnhart to continue to serve those same customers while offering a broader range of services that should help customers lower a project's overall costs. We think our industrial customers along the Gulf Coast Region will be very pleased with the expansion of services this acquisition allows."
