Alternative supplies platforms to T5

Alternative Access Ltd of Rotherham has won a contract to supply 35 bespoke suspended access platforms and gantries to Heathrow Terminal Five.

The contract includes 31 internal platforms and four external ones. The platforms will be used in the terminal and adjoining railway station for window and other cleaning and general maintenance duties. The internal platforms run on specially designed 15 metre long travelling gantries.

Alternative Access desgined this 15 m gantry and platfrom for T5

Each gantry is fitted with a Schmersal T4VH 355 bi directional switch at each end to provide a cut out when the platform is overloaded. The switches also serve to block any conflict in travel direction between one end of the platform and the other.
