T5 Steel erectors strike

Steel erectors at Heathrow's new Terminal five stopped work on Monday in protest at British workers being laid off before their Dutch workers! The British steel erectors, are contracted to a company called Fast Track, an employment agency. They said that it was agreed that Dutch workers would be let go first if workloads slowed down.

However 10 British workers have been told that their contracts would this week, while Dutch workers for Dutch based subcontractor ZNS are being kept on. As a result 25 steel erectors downed tools in an unofficial strike, but then returned to work on Tuesday.
All of the employees are working on a baggage area in Terminal Five for Dutch firm Vanderlande., it is almost certain that laying staff off by nationality is contra to European law.
