ATN joins Air Force

French aerial lift manufacturer ATN has supplied two large scissor lifts to the French Air Force.

The two CX15 lifts were delivered today to Groupement Aérien d'Appui aux Opérations (GAAO) – roughly translated as Operational Air Support Group – at the Support Command Air Force base in Merignac and is the last stop in a ministry of defence tender process launched in April 2012. The platforms will initially be used to assemble aircraft buildings.

The CX15 is a 43ft diesel-powered Rough Terrain scissor lift with 16 square metre platform, 700kg platform capacity and 15 metre working height.

They will be used by the French Air Force for both internal (OPINT) and external (OPEX) operations, and need to be ready for rapid deployment to a variety of different countries and climatic conditions around the world. They have therefore been adapted to suit tropical conditions including stainless steel fittings and hydraulic connectors to cope with high humidity, as well as a cyclonic oil filter to withstand extremely dusty conditions. The platforms are also finished with a high protection primer/coating topped by a NATO Green top coat.

Technical training was included in the tender, for all personnel who will use and maintain this equipment in operational condition. ATN's technical team has already provided initial training, including train the trainer instruction, allowing the Air Force to introduce the equipment to its engineering and operational personnel.
