GT Access takes UK’s first HR28
UK rental company GT Access has taken delivery of the first 86ft Niftylift HR28 Hybrid boom lift in the UK.
The Bromsgrove based company ordered the new lift with Hybrid power and 4x4 drive, while standard features include an oscilating axle, the SiOPS operator safety system, a 150 degree articulated jib, 180 degrees of platform rotation and 280kg platform capacity. The machine offers around two metres more working height than most machines in this sector at 28 metres, along with a class leading 19 metres of outreach, all from a machine with a total weight of just 14,500 kg. The lower weight - between one and two and half tonnes lighter than machines of a similar height - offers significant benefits for transportation and fuel economy.

Niftylift’s well proven Hybrid power system allows the use of a smaller diesel engine, reducing fuel consumption, while the electric power unit kicks in to ensure that plenty of power is on hand when needed. The company’s advanced exhaust purification system (which includes a catalytic converter) is said to remove around 90 percent of carbon monoxide, 80 percent of hydrocarbons and 30 percent of particulates, further enhancing its green credentials.
A diesel Re-Gen feature charges the machine’s batteries during normal diesel operation, at a considerably faster rate than AC/mains charging, and it can also be operated as an electric-only machine for clean, quiet operation both inside and out.
Tim Ward of Niftylift said: “For the first time a 90ft plus machine will not need a ‘Low Loader’ to move it to site. With the right specification a 26 tonne truck can be used, offering the potential for huge cost savings for our customers.”

GT Access' new offices and warehouse in Bromsgrove
The new lift was handed over at GT’s new 1,100 square metre offices and workshops in Bromsgrove. This new facility is located next door to the company’s previous premises that were demolished to create more yard space. The company operates around 800 units from five locations Brosmgrove, Gloucester, Stoke, Telford and Hereford.
GT’s managing director Jon Till said: “I must admit it was quite emotional seeing the old place being knocked down, the old place was very good to us but ‘Tide and Time wait for no Man’ and we just outgrew it.”
