Smiths Equipment expands

UK based rental company Smiths Equipment has announced the appointment of Martin Prater as its fleet manager.

The company also announced plans to invest a further £2.5 million on new equipment in 2014 having invested £1 million in 2013 on a number of Niftylift booms, Skyjack and Genie scissor lifts as well as general rental equipment such as excavators, concrete mixers and generators.

Prater said: “We have begun the process of updating our vehicle fleet. This decision has been made to help reduce our Co2 output and increase our average fuel efficiency which will help us to make annual savings in costs and reduce our environmental imprint. Combine this with the improved reliability and reduction in vehicle downtime and we are certain that this will only help to improve the service we provide our customers.”
