Liebherr Ireland dispute escalates
Union employees at the Liebherr crane plant in Killarney, Ireland, have rejected a labour court proposal for a 2.5 percent pay increase, backdated to May 2012, by 163 to 107. The union represents around 300 of the plant's 670 workforce.
The company accepted the proposal in December, subject to changes in restrictive work practices.
The stance taken by the union minority has caused Liebherr to consider the future of the plant which builds marine cranes and has already looked at transferring production to other facilities.
