Fatal scaffold collapse
A large scaffold/formwork collapsed yesterday in Sentosa, Singapore, killing one man and injuring 10 others.
The scaffold, which is located on the site of a new beachside Entertainment Centre, was supporting shuttering for an upper floor, but it is not clear yet what the cause might have been. The main contractor is Debenho and the site has a good safety record. Although saying that some of the scaffold work looks decidedly ‘dodgy’.

The site has been closed under a two week Stop Work order, and the Ministry of Manpower is understood to be looking at ways to step up its efforts to improve site safety in the city state, following a series of serious incidents, a number of them involving cranes.
