Paul Brown retires

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Brown spent most of his school years in Billingham, North East England and after graduating in 1973 moved to Italy in 1973 where he taught English in Milan and Rome. He began his crane career with P&H in Rome in 1977, and it was here that he met and married his wife and his first son was born.

In 1980 he transferred to the P&H facility in Dortmund where he held several positions in sales and marketing and witnessed first hand the start of the first All Terrain cranes, the P&H WS-250M, and Omega S15 family, which were developed and produced in a response to an idea and request from the Sparrow brothers - he says. It was also while living in Dortmund that his second son was born.

In 1989, he joined Faun GmbH in Lauf as area sales manager for the Middle East but left in 1990. Soon after the company was acquired by Tadano and renamed Tadano Faun. So just after leaving Brown returned as product manager.

In the 1990's, his duties were mainly in the product marketing areas and product/sales training “helping to spread the All Terrain gospel to the Tadano people in Japan and at their branch offices and to their distributors”. In 1992 he married for a second time to a German girl, Ina.

Since 2002, he has mainly concentrated on sales, as area sales manager
responsible for the UK and Ireland, Italy, Poland, the Baltic countries, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.

A regular and reliable feature on Tadano stands at trade shows the world over, he has regularly attended Vertikal Days, helping to man the Cranes UK booth. We hope that he will be in a position to attend again this year for a proper send-off into what we hope will be a long and happy retirement.

It would be an honor and delight to be around Paul to learn all that could be absorbed. So many years in the industry starting with being an educator, he must be very gifted and dedicated to serving his fellow man. Thanks Mr. Brown!
