Bigge buys American Heavy Rigging and Hauling

Bigge Crane and Rigging or San Leandro, California, has acquired American Heavy Rigging & Hauling Co of Richmond, Virginia. American, like Bigge, specialises in rigging, transportation and crane rental.

The American name will be dropped as the business is absorbed into Bigge, but Jim Price, general manager and George 'Jigger' Tanner will remain on board and head up the major projects group-east. Bigge has said that additional resources will be added to the Richmond location.

The ownership of Bigge changed in May last year, when Brock Settlemier, sold the business to his two sons, Weston Settlemier and Reid Settlemier.

The Bigge business includes Bigge Crane and Rigging Company, Crane Certification Company and Bigge Development Company, all located in San Leandro, California, and Shaughnessy Heavy Industries, located in Auburn, Washington. Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. was founded in 1916 by Henry W. Bigge.
