Charitable Brontos
Australian truck mounted lift rental company Summit Tower Hire has branded two of its new 46 metre Bronto S46XDT Skylifts in the colours of two Australian charities, Asthma Australia and Hear and Say.
The unit dedicated to Asthma Australia, mounted on a Scania 6x6 chassis is painted bright pink and is intended to raise the profile of the charity and the illness which affects all ages and is said to be the fifth leading cause of years of life lost to disability in Australia – higher than chronic lung and heart diseases. The Hear and Say unit, painted in blue and white, is dedicated to the Queensland based charity and centres which teach young children and babies which are hearing impaired or deaf, to hear, listen and speak and to communicate with the hearing world using clear, natural speech.
Established in 1992, it is now one of the leading pediatric auditory-verbal and implantable technology (including cochlear implants) centre’s in the world. It costs more than $10,000 a year for up to six years to teach one deaf child to learn to listen and speak. With more than 600 children currently in its programme it relies on fundraising events and activities, along with the support of our donors.

Chris Josey, national sales manager for Summit said: “Asthma is a condition that unfortunately at times is not taken as serious as it should be. I personally have lost a family member to asthma, as have a lot of families in Australia, and have seen how it affects those left behind. Summit is proud to be partnering with Asthma Australia, and look forward to working together to help promote the extraordinary support and education that this foundation provides.”
Talking of Hear and Say, Summit’s national safety training and technical manager Peter Wellspring said: “The Hear and Say Centre is a fantastic support mechanism for young children and families with hearing loss. This organisation has been Invaluable in the development of many children over the years, teaching them to hear, listen and speak using a combination of modern hearing technology and Auditory – Verbal Therapy, by building pathways to facilitate their child’s listening and spoken language.”
“Summit was proud to present the truck to the Hear and Say team on the day of the launch of their annual ‘Butterfly Appeal’. This appeal is an initiative of the Hear and Say centre to promote the program, and to assist with the raising of vital revenue. Support of this appeal will help to give deaf children the lifelong gift of sound and speech.”
