A-Plant agrees deal with Birse
A-Plant, the UK rental division of Ashtead, has agreed a five year sole supply deal with the Birse group.
The deal covers the complete range of A-Plant equipment including Telehandlers and access equipment all the way down to the smaller tools. It is estimated to be worth at least £3 million a year.
This follows a similar deal with Balfour Beatty Utilities, which is considered to be worth £4 million a year.

Vertikal Comment
With the large national tool hire chains signing up these sole supplier deals with major contractors, on an almost weekly basis, regional and local rental companies need to consider their strategies.
A well run, well funded locally owned rental company will almost always have the edge over a national company. The National companies have the advantage in offering comprehensive national agreements..
It is surprising that we have not seen more of such formal binding agreements being signed up or publicised by the national Crane or Access rental companies.
