Speedy recruits senior managers

UK based rental company Speedy Hire has announced a number of senior management appointments, aimed at strengthening its management team.

Adrian Murphy has been appointed chief operating officer UK, with responsibility for Speedy's UK operations. Murphy joins Speedy from United Technologies where he was managing director of Chubb Fire and Security Systems, and more recently commercial director UK, Ireland and Benelux for the group’s Building Industrial Systems division. Prior to this he was managing director of Hilti- UK and Ireland and previously worked for Arcelor Construction, have started his career with NSG Pilkington.

Tony Bennett joins Speedy as corporate development officer, with responsibility for strategy, planning, corporate communications and social responsibility. He has formerly held executive positions at Office Depot and Rentokil Initial group.

Steve Giblin has been appointed group health, safety, security, environment and quality director. Prior to joining Speedy, he was global head of EHS at Scapa and has held similar positions at United Utilities and British Gas Centrica. He has also worked at Carlesberg, Textron and Associated British Ports

Ed Cowell joins the company as head of major accounts, overseeing sales to some of Speedy's largest national customers. He began his career with the British Army and then moved to Barclays Private Bank. He joins Speedy from G4S, where he has held a number of senior roles, including international account director and most recently as global sales director for the risk management business.
