Polish Death Wish
Sent in by a reader in Poland, a double Death Wish involving a telehandler and an aerial work platform.
The first example is a man working on the construction of a bridge using a Manitou MT1440 telehandler fitted with an aerial work platform attachment. Even with a fully extended boom the man has come up short forcing him to place a series of wooden planks across the basket’s rails onto the steep embankment in an attempt to fashion a three metre bridge platform approximately 10 metres up.
Fortunately the embankment looks to be made up of loose soil and should the man fall, other than rolling to the bottom and needing to give himself and his pride a good dusting off, he would probably be OK. If he managed to avoid hitting the telehandler of course!

The man has fashioned himself a three metre bridge platform between the platform basket and embankment
The second Death Wish is easily missed, but behind the telehandler a man is working on the underside of the bridge. He has obviously used the aerial work platform to get him to the desired height before climbing out in order to work in the bridge’s recess. Should he slip and fall however there would be no embankment to break his fall.

A closer look at the man who has obviously had to climb out of an aerial work platform
Definite candidates for our Death Wish series
