Boom lift rocks chimney
Firefighters were called out to rescue a man from a self-propelled boom lift on Saturday in Beverly, near Hull in the UK.
The incident occurred at a pub - the Foresters Arms, in Beckside North - which is currently being renovated. It looks as though the narrow aisle boom lift was inadvertently slewed into the brick chimney, damaging it to the point where it was said to be at risk of falling.
The rescue team had to bring the man down and then remove the boom without causing the chimney to topple. We understand that the exercise was entirely successful. It would be interesting to know what sort of training the man using the boom had received.
