Chippindale acquires Wilmslow
UK sales and general rental company Chippindale Plant has acquired Manchester-based rental company Wilmslow Plant for £2.7 million.
Established in 1946, Wilmslow provides a range of construction equipment, including telehandlers, from a single location in Stockport. The deal also includes the purchase of Wilmslow’s site accommodation division - AG Site Services - which will continue to trade under its existing name. Based in Carrington the division provides steel worksite units including temporary offices, kitchen/canteens, toilets and storage containers.
Wilmslow was previously owned by a Swedish company and traded as Lipac UK Ltd, before being purchased by Geoffrey Hanks and Robert Moreton, both of whom are now in their late 60s.
Chippindale said that it plans to make significant investments in both of the acquired businesses/depots, which will retain their nine employees, increasing Chippindale’s network to nine locations and more than 100 staff.
Joint managing director, Nigel Chippindale, said: “Acquiring Wilmslow is the perfect geographical match and the deal comes at the right time in our expansion programme. Their range of plant and equipment is a mirror image of our own and it will be a seamless fit.”
