Quick move for Barton brothers

UK access industry veterans David and John Barton have established Quick Reach, a new access rental company in the UK.

Based in Eccles, near Manchester, the new company has placed significant orders for Skyjack and Genie aerial work platforms as well as with JCB for a number of telehandlers in a deal worth close to £1 million. It has also appointed Charles Graham-Martin as its service and operations manager.

The brothers both worked for The Platform Company and remained with the company following its acquisition by Lavendon/Nationwide in 2008. John held a number of positions at Nationwide, culminating as the operations director of EPL Skylift. He left the company last August and decided to establish the new business. David, who was at one point on Lavendon’s UK management board as UK business development director, left Nationwide earlier this month to join his brother.

David Barton said: “It’s long been an ambition of John and I to have our own access rental business, we have both worked for some major UK hire companies and now we want to use that experience into creating a business that sets new standards across the industry. We have big plans and they include opening further locations in 2015 and 2016 in the UK, as well as diversifying our hire product range. We want our customer’s to eventually consider Quick a one stop shop for their equipment rental needs, whatever that maybe.”

John Barton added: “Our new web site has just been launched which we are very excited about and seeing the machines decked in the new Quick livery is just fantastic. We are determined to be known as providers for the very best in quality equipment and a top class service; we know we have to stand out in a very established and competitive market place.”

The company offers a range of scissor, low level and boom lifts as well as telehandlers and has plans to add tool and accommodation rental to its offerings later this year.
