GAM to spend €45 million with JCB

GAM (General de Alquiler de Maquinaria), which claims to be the largest rental company in Spain, has signed a contract with JCB, for the supply of Telescopic handlers, Robot skid steer loaders, mini excavators and rough terrain forklifts.

The order, deliveries of which will be staged over the next five years, is valued at €45 million. The first batch of machines will roll off the JCB production lines before the end of March

A large portion of the deliveries will be used to expand the company’s existing fleet which totals 24,000 pieces of equipment.

GAM was formed in 2003 by the merger of a number of independent companies, including the well known access company Aldaiturriaga.

The company’s product range includes 230 mobile and loader cranes, around 2,800 aerial work platforms and almost 1,000 telehandlers. The group employs around 1,000 people and operates from 41 locations in 11 regions including one in Lisbon.

GAM says that it expects revenues for 2005 to be in the region of €160 million, an increase of almost 25 percent on 2004. It has set itself a very ambitious target for 2006 of €250 million, a rise of almost 60 percent!

Pedro Luis Fernández, president of GAM, said “We chose JCB because of its reputation in Spain, because these machines are very respected in the markets which GAM serves” “JCB’s policy of being a supplier to rental companies and not a competitor, was also a factor”.
