MEC gives exclusivity on new Boom

US based NES Rentals and aerial lift manufacturer MEC have agreed an exclusive supply deal for the new 60ft MEC 60J boom lift which is due to be launched next week.

The new lift has a 1.8 metre articulated jib, and a 2.4 metre by one metre platform with 272kg capacity. The deal with NES is that it will have exclusivity on the product throughout 2015. The company already runs a selection of MEC machines, including Crossover scissors, Speed Levels and Titan 40 and 60-S booms/scissor.

NES chief executive Andy Studdert said: “Our mission is to continually seek out the newest, most innovative products that provide our customers with the tools that improve their safety, productivity and contribute to their total job satisfaction.”

“The MEC 60J boom incorporates all the features that our customers have come to expect as standard, such as full time four wheel drive, 360 degree continuous rotation, active oscillating axle and 45 percent gradeability, a powerful and reliable 44 hp Kubota turbocharged diesel engine and all steel component covers.”

The 2008 MEC M40T never made it into production

The MEC 60J is the first self-propelled boom lift from the company. It showed the 40ft M40T boom lift - and announced the 46ft M46TJ - at the 2008 Rental Show, but they never made it into production, as the economy ‘tanked’ shortly afterwards and the company reverted to production of niche products, including its Titan Booms - which are basically a scissor size platform on a non rotating telehandler type boom.

Receiving a commitment such as this will give the new 60ft boom a boost in what is already a hotly contested market, with a great deal of similarity between products.
