Snorkel launches new models including first telehandler

Snorkel has unveiled its first telehandler, and five new aerial lifts at The Rental Show in New Orleans later today.

Now part of Don Ahern’s Nevada-based Xtreme Manufacturing, Snorkel's SR5919 is the first model of a new line of Rough Terrain telescopic handlers with a lift capacity of 2.7 tonnes and 5.8 metres lift height, and 3.4 metres maximum forward reach.

Measuring 1.8 metres wide and two metres high the compact telehandler has 274mm ground clearance and a 3.35 metre turning radius.

Snorkel's first telehandler - the SR5919


The heavy-duty unit is based on the Xtreme comact telehandler, but with significant changes for a different customer base. It is said to offer good all round visibility from the choice of open or enclosed cabs. The SR5919 has a solid steel plate chassis, a large cross-section boom and protected tilt and extend cylinders, steel hydraulic and fuel tanks and melonite pins.

The new Snorkel S3219E scissor


The aerial work platform manufacturer has also unveiled a new four model family of electric slab scissor lifts aimed at the North American rental sector from the 19ft, 32 inch wide S3219E to the 32ft, 47 inch wide S4732E. The new models feature a new scissor arm design, that bears a resemblance to that used by Skyjack, new dual/split swing out battery and machinery trays, a new heavy steel deck and a new full width platform extension.

Snorkel is also showing the first in a new line of mid-size telescopic boom lifts. The Snorkel 660SJ is a 66ft Rough Terrain telescopic that includes a two metre jib, all steel covers, fully proportional controls for all boom functions, as well as a brand new tri-entry platform design with saloon-style entry gates, new steel platform surface and large heavy duty guardrails with a built in panel carrier. Finally the new booms include a very simple ‘Snorkel Guard’ secondary guarding system fitted as standard.
