DTI files to wind up scaffold companies.

The UK Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has presented a petition in the High Court to wind up two Norfolk scaffolding companies in the public interest.

The two companies, ATR Scaffolding Limited and A to Z Scaffolding Limited, provided scaffolding to the construction industry mainly in the new town development of Cambourne, near Cambridge.

ATR Scaffolding, which traded from Kings Lynn, was placed into Creditors Voluntary Liquidation on 14 January 2005 with debts of £405,425. A to Z Scaffolding traded from Kings Lynn and Bury St Edmunds.

The petitions to wind up the companies were presented following investigations carried out by the DTI's Companies Investigation Branch under Section 447 of the Companies Act 1985 and are listed for hearing on 8 March 2006.

Until then the DTI will not release further details
