Fatal loader crane incident
A loader crane operator died on Friday, after he was crushed between the crane and the truck bed in mid-town Manhattan, New York.
The man, Trevor Loftus, 40, is an employee of Kerry Contracting of Yonkers and according to fire-fighters, he was unloading materials at the hotel construction site, with his Hiab knuckle boom crane, when experienced what he thought was a hydraulic problem. He moved up to the truck to investigate and was somehow crushed between the folded boom and the truck bed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration – OSHA – is investigating
