Ainscough drivers strike again
Crane operators at UK rental company Ainscough were out on strike again yesterday in the second of their one day stoppages.

Support for the strike remains solid according to the Union
If the Unite union is to be believed the strike was once again well supported, causing most of the company’s cranes to be stood up for the day. In one case the British comedian Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown joined the picket line. He was apparently passing the company’s Stockton on Tees branch and stopped to lend his support.

The overall impact of the strike may well have been curbed again in that for the second Monday in a row storm force winds bay well have kept many cranes idle anyway?
If no progress is made the striking operators are planning a two day stoppage next week, following a weekend overtime ban.

UPDATE
Before the third strike - a two day stoppage - got underway the two sides are reported to have reached a settlement, after the company improved its offer and apparently agreed not to extend the pool of operators working under what the strikers referred to as a zero hours contract.
