Terex to make major announcements
Ahead of a major press conference with Ron DeFeo, CEO of Terex Corporation, in which details of a major crane acquisition in China will be announced, Terex-Demag has unveiled details of five new cranes.
The first is the AC100/4 – a 100 tonne, four axle All Terrain Crane. The main feature of the machine is its narrow width (2.55m with 16.00 R25 tyres), five section, 50m main boom and lift capacities some 25 percent better than the best four axle 80 tonners on the market.
Its compact design and axle configuration will, the company says, allow units to be sold worldwide with minimum modification.
Shown for the first time at Intermat, the four axle, 60 tonne lifting capacity TC60L Truck Crane is to be joined by a smaller 40 tonne TC40L. Both machines are in prototype form and planned for production next year with most demand expected from Scandinavia, France and the UK. Both will be available in standard and more usually, Long boomed- L – versions.
The TC60L has an unusual axle arrangement with steerable axles front and rear and two central dual tyred drive axles (axles two and three).
The already announced CC6800 – a 1250 tonne capacity crawler crane – is aimed at the Asian (China), Middle East and Dutch markets.
The 1000 tonne capacity CC5800 launched last year uses a 3 metre boom section width. While the larger CC6800 uses a 3.5m section. The machine is available to buy now, with delivery of the first unit - into Europe – currently being scheduled.
Final machine to be unveiled is the CC2800-1 NT, a narrow track crawler crane designed for travelling with a fully equipped boom system, on narrow tracks found within windfarm installations. .
A low centre of gravity is achieved by using an innovative outrigger design that folds upwards for travelling. Sales estimates are up to 10 units per year, with the first unit due to be delivered late spring/early summer.
