Fork and stillage

Spotted by a reader in Maastricht, the Netherlands a man using a supermarket stillage on a fork lift to work at height.

The stillage/bulk trolley has been strapped to the fork carriage of a narrow aisle forklift, to lift a man in order to a reach a security camera around three or four metres up. The fork lift looks to be set on a slight side slope and the operator has abandoned his post.

Hardly the most cost effective solution, and definitely not the safest

In the words of our correspondent: ”This afternoon I spotted this situation at an industrial zone in Maastricht. Installing cameras with no sense of safety. The forklift driver left his machine due to an incoming phone call. The technician is standing in a large supermarket-trolley without any safety restraints.I hope this new camera system doesn't spot him.”.

A closer look

The guardrails certainly looks high enough, but clearly this is not a safe form r access, and while not the worst example of unsafe working at height that we have seen, it is definitely one for out Death Wish series.
