Liebherr’s maritime operations increase
Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH has announced that it is planning a new production area in the harbour area of Rostock and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It will comprise of an assembly space of 220,000 metres square, where machines with weights exceeding 500 tonnes will be produced.
The company produces ship, offshore and harbour mobile cranes and other heavy construction machinery for a world wide market. The move to expand operations has been spurred by an average turnover increase of 12 per cent per annum in the last five years. It achieved €288 million in 2001, compared to €245 million the year before.
Rostock harbour offers Liebherr good local resources and excellent transportability for the larger machines.
