Another bridge painter dies
A 57-year-old worker died on Saturday after being thrown out of his truck mounted boom lift. The man, Tan Ngai Tiam was painting the underside of a flyover, roughly four metres above the ground in Singapore, when his lift was hit by a double-decker bus.
Witnesses said that the impact threw, Tan “off of the cherry picker and onto the pavement”. He sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at 9.40am on Saturday.
The driver of the SBS Transit bus service number 154, was unhurt, the bus company said that the bus driver has been suspended pending investigations and that it will offer assistance to the bereaved family. Tan had only taken up the painting job in late May.
