1,200 JCBs for A-Plant

A-Plant - Ashtead's UK rental operation – has ordered 1,200 JCB telehandlers and other equipment, in a deal worth £35 million.

The new order, placed through regional dealer Greenshields JCB also includes Rough Terrain fork trucks and generators as well as earthmoving equipment. The order, placed through regional dealer Greenshields JCB, is the largest equipment order it is placing this year and follows A-Plant’s purchase last year of 1,500 JCBs in a deal worth £50 million.

The telehandlers, along with most of the other equipment are powered by JCB Ecomax engines which require no diesel particulate filters or exhaust after treatment fluids. A-Plant has now taken more than 11,000 JCB machines since purchasing its first unit over 25 years ago.

A-Plant marketing director Asif Latief said: "This order is part of our investment programme to ensure our customers continue to get the most advanced, reliable, safe and environmentally friendly equipment. This year’s investment also includes JCB generators developed by the former Broadcrown business, which is a first for A-Plant and recognises our commitment to offering quality new products to our customers."

JCB UK & Ireland sales director Dan Thompstone added: "JCB has a longstanding relationship with A-Plant and we are delighted to cement that with this huge order. Winning business like this is testament to JCB’s continued introduction of innovative products supported by unrivalled parts and service back-up from the JCB UK dealer network."
