Manitou opens Indian facility

Telehandler and aerial lift manufacturer Manitou has inaugurated its new operation in India, replacing the Terex Equipment facility and product line that it purchased earlier this year recently purchased.

Manitou has confirmed its commitment to developing the backhoe loader and skid steer productsd that it has inherited in India with plans to export them to neighbouring countries. Manitou managers are meeting their new Manitou Equipment India counterparts at the plant in Greater Noïda next week to formulate plans and strategies. The objective is to present the company's ambitions to the 340 employees and to exchange information about cultural diversity and collaboration between the teams. 200 visitors will also attend the inauguration day, including dealers, customers, suppliers and local partners.

Chief executive Michel Denis said: “With the experienced and motivated Manitou Equipment India teams, we have gained a recognised know-how. We also have an effective and competitive industrial platform on which we can build to truly benefit from a very promising Indian construction sector, and new opportunities which we will develop. We have a lot of cards in hand to expand the company in India and emerging countries. Our ambition is to develop existing MEI backhoes and skid steers and an additional range of localized products for Asia.”
