Lucky escape for painters

Two painters had a lucky escape when the platform in which they were working at around 17 metres, overturned falling onto and crushing parked cars outside in Portrush near Coleraine, Northern Ireland.

The painters were working on the five storey Seabank Nursing Home, in Bath Terrace.

Lexie Duncan, owner of the Nursing Home, said: "They were in the cradle when it came down on top of the cars which were wrecked. I would say it was fully extended, about 50ft, and it looked pretty bad. The platform was stretched the full length of our car park."

Ambulances took the painters to hospital although police said that their injuries were not life threatening. No-one was in or near the cars.
