Big Tadano RTs for Maxim

Maxim Crane Works has purchased 15 large Tadano Rough Terrain cranes ranging from 90 to 145 tonnes.

The new cranes include a mix of 91 tonne GR-1000XLs, equipped with a 47 metre main boom plus 17.7 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, 110 tonne GR-1200XLs with 56 metre main booms and 17.7 metre extensions, and the 145 tonne GR-1600XLs with its 61 metre main boom and 18 metre bi-fold extension.

The new cranes are part of the company’s plans to expand its 2,500 unit crane fleet to cope with increased demand from the petrochemical industry.
Chief operating officer Frank Bardonaro said: “Tadano’s longer boom length, capacity, and reliability have historically corresponded to our customer needs. We don’t make these decisions somewhere in a corporate office. Instead, we talk to our team in the field and they know the machines that will be best suited to do the job.”
“One new approach Maxim is taking to meet customer demand is choosing Rough Terrain cranes over comparable All Terrain cranes for this purchase. Next generation Tadano RTs have longer reaching booms and better load charts than many ATs, with the added bonus of superior ability to work in close quarters. Rough terrain cranes can also be more cost effective because they only require one person to operate and often do not require multiple trucks for transport. This improved transportability is key to Maxim’s investment in Rough Terrain cranes. The petrochemical industry is booming, but this can change over time. As customer needs evolve, Rough Terrain cranes can easily be moved to other regions across the country for infrastructure and commercial industry projects.”

Bob Krause regional business manager, Tadano America added: “We are very excited to continue our relationship with Maxim Crane and provide them the industry's leading Rough Terrain crane products. Reliability is proving to be a game-changer with the lowest owning and operating cost in the industry.”
