Demag City for Merkel
German crane rental company Merkel Autokrane has taken delivery of a 45 tonne Demag AC 45 City All Terrain crane, the first in Germany.
The AC 45 has a 31.2 metre main boom and can telescope loads of up to 19.7 tonnes. A 7.1 to 13 metre offsettable extension takes the maximum on board tip height to over 45 metres. It is also fitted with Demag's IC-1 Plus system, which calculates the crane’s capacity based on the actual outrigger and counterweight settings, while maximising the capacity based on slew angle.

Merkel’s new Demag AC 45 City
General manager Günther Merkel said: “We have plenty of experience with its predecessor, the AC 40 City, which we have been extremely happy with for years, especially because of its outstanding reliability. That’s why deciding on this new and improved machine was a matter of course for us. And don’t forget that it only weighs 34 tonnes when fully equipped, meaning that it remains well below the 12 tonne axle load limit. This makes it an especially cost effective option for us as we don’t need to use additional transportation vehicles.”
