BKL acquires Bruns

German crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has acquired crane and heavy haulage provider Bruns Spezial Logistik.

Based in Giesen, near Hildesheim, north Germany, Bruns Spezial Logistik runs a fleet of 10 mobile cranes ranging from 40 to 350 tonnes, as well as loader cranes and transport equipment, all of which is now being added to the BKL fleet, taking it to 600 cranes. The Hildesheim location and its team has been rebranded as BKL North/East and is managed by Jasmin Meyer, along with BKL Hannover. The deal takes the BKL depot network to six locations Munich, Frankfurt, Hannover, Ingolstadt, Rosenheim and now Hildesheim, with a total of 300 employees.

Bruns Schwerlast of Dodendorf, near Magdeburg is not part of the deal, but will work closely with BKL going forward.

BKL owner Alexander Volz said: “2019 is going to be our year. The recent purchase of the Bruns Hildesheim location and the upgrade of our rental fleet to 600 machines mark the next milestones in our expansion strategy.
