Irish Raimondis

Raimondi distributor Irish Crane & Lifting (Irish Cranes) has taken delivery of three 10 tonne Raimondi MRT189 flat top tower cranes, the first MRT189s in the country to feature Raimondi's new winch design which can handle the 10 tonnes on two fall with a hook speed of 24 metres a minute or 110 metres a minute with 1,000kg. The winch also features a LeBus drum, flanges, and frame.

The first crane to arrive was sold to Irish contractor KPH Construction, and was erected with a 65 metre jib and under hook height of 42 metres on the Cherrywood jobsite in Dublin, where it will be working on demolition and concrete core. One of the other cranes has been erected on the site of a new Dublin residential complex.

Raimondi chief operations officer Domenico Ciano said: “With this advancement in engineering design, it is no longer necessary to switch from the two falls configuration to the four falls configuration to activate the crane’s best performance. The 45kW 10 tonne two falls winch is a completely new Raimondi design based on client feedback and needs. A new electric motor was developed specifically for this application, as well as a completely new LeBus type drum, flanges, and frame.”

“Reaching higher heights is now possible there is also an increase of rope life due to the streamlined rope reeving path with less bending. Our clients can expect that our two rope solution will be implemented for all Raimondi cranes up to 12 tonne maximum load capacity.”

Established in 1981, Irish Crane & Lifting operates from depots in Killarney and Dublin. As well as Raimondi tower cranes, the company offers hoists, wire rope, chains and other lifting equipment.
