Work on the ledge

Spotted last week in London, UK by a member of the team, two men working on a shop façade with minimal consideration for safety.

Something funny, gents?

The men look very happy, which is great. Sad thing is they are one slip away from life in a wheelchair, or worse.

One of them is working at a height of around five metres. He has clearly used a folded step ladder to climb up onto the top of the roll out awning and is working from them, oblivious to the fact that he might slip, or the awning might break away from the wall.
The other is working from a crude platform made up from two steel trestles, topped by planks, with an overhang of around 500mm, that he looks ready to step on. What they are not aware of is that falls from these height often result in some of the worst injuries. Hopefully they completed the job without incident.

All it needs is the proper use of a ladder, a simple scaffold tower or even a powered platform. Definitely one for our Death Wish series.

Have a safe weekend.
