Hewden first to test

Hewden Instant Access has kicked off the New Year by implementing a 100 percent test for all electric lifts as part of its Pre Delivery Inspection prior to each contract. The inspection using, Seaward PAC 1500xi test units, covers the 110 volt cable to platform and the battery charger.

The inspections check for proper earthing, cable insulation and polarity, none of which can be properly checked with the visual inspection alone.

While none of the relevant legislation demands such testing, the Health and Safety Executive Memorandum of Guidance on Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) regulations, advises that records of maintenance, including tests should be kept throughout the working life of equipment.

Therefore as part of this new initiative Hewden will be recording the results of each and every test in the machines history files.

Hewden believes that it is the first national access rental company to use such equipment to carry out and record these tests on every rental contract.
