Loader crane, secure storage and portable accommodation operator Mobile Mini UK has appointed Andrew Thompson as managing director. He was previously responsible for the company’s operations and supply chain.
Thompson joined Mobile Mini as regional director for the north in early 2016, following four and half years with Hewden where he had been UK national operations director since 2012.
He began his career in 1992 with the Cooperative Group moving to a store management role at Morrisons in 1997. He then returned to a similar role at the Cooperative in 1999, becoming a regional director before leaving to join Hewden in 2011.
Thompson said: “I am honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to lead such a fantastic business. Despite being a large, world leading company, Mobile Mini has such an approachable family environment and I have been overwhelmed with the positive response from the team. I want to ensure we can attract the very best in diverse talent to complement our existing team and help us move towards our exciting vision for the future. We have an unbelievable opportunity to leverage best practice from our US colleagues, who do an amazing job, and we are currently developing our networks across the pond.”
Mobile Mini was founded in the USA in 1983 and now has locations in the US, Canada and UK. Last year Mobile Mini invested almost £3.5 million in its 15 branch UK network and a further £1.5 million in upgrading its loader crane fleet.
