Another truck crane for Steil

German crane rental company Steil Kranarbeiten has taken delivery of a 60 tonne Liebherr LTF 1060-4.1 truck crane.

The LTF 1060-4.1 features a four section 40 metre main boom and a 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, providing a maximum tip height of 56 metres and a maximum radius of 48 metres.

Mounted on a four axle Scania truck chassis, the LTF 1060-4.1 can travel with its full 10.2 tonnes of counterweight - nine tonnes on the front axle and 12 tonnes on the rear - while remaining under 42 tonnes. The chassis also includes a sleeper cab and a number of other features which the company says makes it ideal for long distances.

Steil's new LTF 1060-4.1 leaving Liebherr's production facility

Steil owner Birgit Steil, said: “The LTF 1060-4.1 has already proven itself in the past in our fleet. LTF cranes are an economical addition to our All Terrain crane fleet as the running costs for mass-produced trucks are lower than special models with an All Terrain chassis. As a result of the situation on some sites, LTF cranes can never completely replace All Terrain cranes, but they are a good addition, particularly if long distances are involved. We often face long driving distances in the Eifel and Hunsrück regions we cover.”

Based in Trier, western Germany, Steil was established in 1924 and runs a fleet of 115 cranes with capacities ranging from 30 to 1,000 tonnes. The company now has a total of eight LTF truck mounted cranes in its fleet with the latest to be stationed at its depot in Wittlich. The company has also recently taken delivery of an 45 tonne Liebherr LTF 1045-4.1 truck crane.
