Shorty cranes for Empire

US based Empire Crane has placed an order for five Manitex ‘Shorty’ boom trucks/cranes.

The company, which is a Manitex dealer, has ordered a 40 tonne 40124SHL Shorty and four 45 tonne TC45127 Shorty cranes which were introduced last June. The Shorty cranes have the same lifting capacities as their full size counterparts, but their overall length has been reduced by 600mm and they are more than 950kg lighter.

The company claims the smaller footprint, improved manoeuvrability and tighter turning radius of the shorter cranes make them more suitable for applications that typically involve setting up in confined spaces, such as tree care, refineries and inner city work.

Luke Lonergan, owner of Empire Cranes, said: “Many of our Manitex customers work in the tree industry where they have to go into tight neighbourhoods to access jobs. This new ‘Shorty’ option is perfect for those customers because they have a tighter turning radius and a crane that is up to is more than a ton lighter. It enables them to go in tighter spaces and makes them more versatile. Manitex has had a number of orders for this shorter model and we foresee them gaining in popularity in 2020.”

Established in 2002 by brothers Paul and Luke Lonergan, Empire Crane is an authorised dealer for Demag Tadano, Kobelco and Tadano Mantis, Manitex, Broderson, Magni and Wolffkran. The company offers sales, parts, service and rentals from locations in Syracuse, New York, Bridgewater, New Jersey, and Boston, Massachusetts.
