A ground breaking ceremony was held last April on the six acre/25,000 square metre site, and earlier this year the overhead cranes were installed in the workshops. The fitting out of the offices, warehouse and training area is also well underway, with a move in planned over the next three months.

HDW was founded in 1982 by Wim Haasbroek, Frans van den Dool and Bas van de Wetering, as the Coles crane dealer, taking over from Van Kranenburg after it had gone into bankruptcy. The company moved into its current location in nearby Ridderkerk in 1986 and added a new building alongside the old in 2001. It became a sister company of sales and rental company Gunco under Pon ownership both of which were acquired by TVH in 2011.
