Another bridge boom incident
A barge mounted crawler crane dropped its boom onto the North River Bridge near Morehead City north east of Wilmington, North Carolina yesterday.
The crane was helping remove the old US 70 bridge when the boom dropped. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident. The boom was quickly removed and the new bridge reopened later in the day with damage to the bridge appearing to be relatively superficial.
This was the second boom failure this week on bridge jobs, after a larger crane dropped its boom onto the new Peace River bridge on Tuesday, see:
