Bus company loses licence
The owners of the bus that crashed into an aerial lift in Manchester in November killing the operator has had its licence to operate permanently revoked.
The jointly-operated UK North and GM Buses, based in Gorton, Manchester, had its licences permanently revoked at a hearing today.
The companies have been suspended since December after it was revealed that defects were found on 16 of the 28 busses that were inspected after the accident.
The ban was extended early in the new year after the companies had failed to take steps to improve the situation. At the hearing today it was revealed that the companies, owned by the same family, had gone into administration.
