600th LTM 1500 goes to Korea

South Korean crane rental company Crane Korea Co. has taken delivery of the 600th Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 eight axle 500 tonne All Terrain crane.

Crane Korea ordered its new crane with a full equipment package, including both 50 and 84 metre telescopic booms, a 91 metre luffing jib and Y-Guy super lift system. Intended for industrial construction and refinery work, the new crane replaces an aging 400 tonne LTM 1400/1 All Terrain crane that has been in the company’s fleet for several years.

Jung-Geu Park, president of Crane Korea, said: “The new crane will fit perfectly into our fleet which ranges between lifting capacities of 30 to 1,200 tonnes and will replace an old LTM 1400/1. The LTM 1500-8.1 is a reliable crane with high lifting capacities. Its highlight is its 84 metre telescopic boom. The 500 tonne Liebherr has a very good reputation and there are over 60 of them currently in action in Korea.”

Launched at bauma 1998, Liebherr celebrated the sale of the 200th unit in 2008, and the 300th unit four years later. The 400th crane was delivered in 2013 before Crane Korea took delivery of the 600th in 2020.
