230t Liebherr for HKV

German crane and heavy haulage company HKV Schmitz + Partner has taken delivery of a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain crane.

The five axle LTM 1230-5.1 features an eight section 75 metre main boom and an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can offset by up to 40 degrees. Up to three seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a tip height of 113 metres. Alternative a heavier duty extension can be rigged to 43 metres with offsets of up to 45 degrees to offer a maximum tip height of 116 metres. The new crane also features Liebherr’s VarioBase outrigger set up and VarioBallast variable counterweight systems.

Managing director Yvonne Schmitz, said: “We only use Liebherr mobile cranes. The new 230 tonne crane is a perfect addition to our fleet. It will replace a six axle 250 tonne crane. One of the main factors behind the decision to buy the crane was its powerful, very long 75 metre boom – and all on a five axle chassis.”
