Wine head!

Spotted by one of our regular readers in Portugal, a man working on a vessel at a vineyard in Alentejo, Portugal.

He is clearly carrying out some work to the top of the vessel and has chosen to adopt the classic fork truck and pallet form of powered access.

Unlike some who go with this form of work at height equipment, he has made no attempt to rig up any fall protection. And his pallet is not even centred on the forks, leaving a cantilever on one side, which is likely move when he steps on it.

He is working at a height of around seven metres, so a fall onto the concrete below could easily prove fatal. A small scissor lift would have been an ideal and inexpensive alternative and would not need to tie up a colleague to drive the machine.

Perhaps some enterprising sales or rental company might benefit from running a campaign directed at vineyards, where they all face the same challenges?

Definitely one for our Death Wish series.

Have a safe weekend.
