Fatal Swiss crush incident

A man has died following an entrapment/crushing incident in Uzwil halfway between Winterthur and St Gallen.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, while the man, 30, was installing overhead pipes from an aerial work platform. We do not know whether it was a boom or a scissor lift but it seems he raised the platform and was crushed between the guardrail and a steel beam. His injuries were such that he died at the scene.

The St.Gallen cantonal police are investigating the incident. We will update this if and when we learn more.
