Bobcat switches London coverage

Bobcat UK is to appoint sales and rental company Versatile Equipment as its new dealer for greater London and south east England.

Versatile will take over from Bobcat of London in January, providing sales and service for Bobcat’s full range - including its fixed and recently launched 360 degree telehandlers - throughout greater London, Essex, West Sussex, East Sussex, Kent and Surrey. According to Bobcat, these regions account for more than 20 percent of all sales within the UK.

The territory is currently covered by Bobcat of London, which is owned by Rob Sonnick along with Sage and Todd Prigozen of Bobcat of New York and Bobcat of Long Island.

Bobcat of New York has a history that dates back to the 1930s when Sylvan Greenbaum founded Sylvan Equipment Corporation to rent out small construction equipment. The company was acquired by Elliot and Lynn Prigozen in September 1980. They expanded the business in terms of locations and product lines, including aerial work platforms. They opened in New Jersey in 1985 and Newburgh, New York in 1989. It was appointed as the Bobcat dealer for the New York City area in 1992 and went on to add further branches in Westbury and Holtsville, Long Island. The company opened the London branch in 2008.

Based in Borough Green, Versatile claims to have one of the largest rental fleets of compact loaders and attachments in the UK. It also provides a wide range of construction equipment from CAT and Mecalac.
