61 Genies for Schmidt

German rental company Schmidt Hubarbeitsbühnenvermietung of Neu Isenburg has started taking delivery of 61 Genie scissor and boom lifts.

As part of the order the company has purchased nine hybrid boom lifts - seven 45ft Z-45 FE and two 60ft Z-60 FE articulated boom lifts. The order also includes four 46ft slab electric GS-4655 scissor lifts some of the first to arrive in the country. The company says that the new order is in response to growing demand in the facilities maintenance, construction and industrial sectors, and increased requests for environment friendly machines.

Schmidt's new 45ft Z-45 FE hybrid boom lifts

Sales manager Markus Wondra said: “Many customers think that hybrid technology is a bit of a two way street. They tend to see it as a compromise between diesel and electric, which leaves them sceptical as to the machines’ real capabilities. Once they understand how the concept works, they try it, and as soon as they do, they are immediately convinced. So much so that the next time round, they actually ask us for a hybrid machine, hence the rise that we have experienced in terms of demand for this technology.”
