GTAccess acquires Neon Hire Services

UK rental company GTAccess has acquired Bedfordshire based Neon Hire Services in what it describes as a multi-million pound deal that is aimed at strengthening its presence in southeast England. Neon was incorporated in 2007 and is owned by directors Neon Lane and Rhonda Maisey, along with Darren Tebbutt. It has assets of around £6 million, with a net worth of 1.4 million, and runs around 700 aerial work platforms from five locations with 35 employees. The fleet includes boom lifts to 63ft, scissors up to 42ft, along with mast booms and push around lifts. Suppliers include Niftylift, Skyjack, Genie, JLG, Snorkel, Haulotte, Manitou and ATN.

GTAccess currently employs 107 across seven locations in the English Midlands, Sussex and South Wales with a fleet of around 2,000 platforms. Neon Hire will add a further five depots in Luton, Peterborough, Brentwood, central London, with a satellite branch at the NEC exhibition centre in Birmingham with a total of 35 staff. The new locations will fill gaps in GTAccess’ coverage, while adding around 500 additional self-propelled platforms, 200 push around units and a number of forklifts, material lifts, and excavators.

GTAccess managing director Jonathan Till, said: “This acquisition will strengthen our powered access offering across southern England and will help us to continue our ambitious growth strategy. It will make us the largest independently owned powered access hire company within the UK market with a total fleet size approaching 2,700 machines, across 12 depots and employing 142 staff, with a specialist fleet of 11 articulated heavy delivery vehicles, 21 rigid’s, five smaller 7.5 tonne rigid’s for restricted access areas and a number of 3.5 tonne vehicles for fast response deliveries.”

Commercial director Tom Long, added: “Although we already deliver powered access platforms into London and across the southeast, the addition of the Neon Hire locations will greatly expand our capability for delivering quickly and efficiently into those areas and will make it much easier for us to continue meeting our customers high expectations.”

Neon Hire’s Neon Lane, said: “This is great news for our customers as we can now offer them the same levels of service over a much wider geographical area. It will also secure the future for the dedicated staff at Neon Hire who have made the company what it is today.”

Congratulations to both Neon and GT. The Access link and the Access Alliance both trade together and work with each other also. We are not enemies. This could help both groups achieving what is required most in supporting each other. Jonathan, Neon, no excuses now the beers are on you. Two good independents coming together in a very busy market. The sale has been spoken about for a short while, There was a little concern who was leading the purchase. I for one am pleased for both these two great operating companies and the powered access industry as a whole that it is staying independent. Well hopefully!!!
Good luck and enjoy. I look forward to seeing you both soon in a friendly social distancing environment. from all at AAP.

Welcome to the modern world
Well perhaps Neon Hire / GTAccess now have a choice to remain in the Alliance, or in the Link....

Was merely asking a question as I thought these alliances and links was to give greater coverage so having companies next to each other in the same town would be a conflict?

Welcome to the modern world
Why on earth should it cause conflicts with the Alliance members. It is a business transaction, and GTAccess is surely entitled to make any acquisition they feel is a good fit for them.

Reading this there must be conflicts within the Alliance members on this?
